Environmental Policy

At AMV we realise that running a business isn’t necessarily good for the environment, that’s why we’ve decided to make ourselves a little bit greener and we’ve taken a number of steps to improve our green karma. It’s not going to turn us into Greenpeace overnight, but there are lots of little things we can all do to help keep the planet a little happier:

Waste reduction

  • We’ve introduced a whole range of recycling schemes that cover all materials we use every day.
  • We’ll be reviewing these schemes on a regular basisto make sure they’re working as well as they can.

Energy

  • We’re committed to reducing the amount of energy we use. For instance, we’ve introduced sensor-activated lighting in most areas of the building so we don’t leave lights on unnecessarily.
  • We undertake monthly energy audits to make sure we stay effecient.

Water

  • We keep a close eye on how much water we use, too. Monthly audits help us manage our water usage more efficiently.

Transport

  • We’ve introduced an environmental travel scheme. We take public transport instead of taxis whenever we can. If we can take the train instead of a plane, we do.

Cleaning

  • We recently renegotiated our cleaning contract to make sure that only biodegradable chemicals are used to clean our offices.

Legislation

  • We are a proactive adopter of legislative requirements. We make it our business to know when new UK or EU legislation comes into force. We are also committed to comply with all other requirements with the day-to-day running of the business.

Culture

  • This focus on green issues isn’t just window-dressing. We put a huge amount of time and effort into pitching for the DEFRA Act On C02 account, because it was a subject close to our heart. And we’re keen to work with any company that cares about the environment.

We’re continually updating our objectives and targets to reduce our impact on the environment. These targets are reviewed annually at company meetings.

In other words, we’re doing all we can to be as sustainable as possible. We’ve even got some official accreditation to prove it: the internationally-renowned certification British Standard 8555 Level 3, commonly known as ACORN.
