Insight & Strategy: Guinness ‘Welcome Back’

How the UK’s most distinctive beer brand leveraged an iconic creative platform to bring people into the on-trade as lockdowns lifted in England

As indoor pubs, bars and restaurants reopened in England after months of Covid- 19-related lockdown, beer brand Guinness launched a Welcome Back to the on-trade campaign, designed to increase footfall to the sector and capture the anticipation many were feeling for the landmark event.

Created in partnership with AMV BBDO, London, the launch film features multiple shots of black and white objects mirroring the three-to-one split of the iconic Guinness pint, such as socks hanging on a washing line, stacks of newspapers, a colony of seagulls atop a chimney and a bag next to a pair of women socially distancing in a park.
