SHEBA

Hope Grows

To support Sheba’s involvement in the world’s largest coral restoration program, we developed Sheba Hope Reef – part of a new integrated global campaign HOPE GROWS.

The 150 ft long reef, which spells out the word HOPE, is a thriving coral reef, planted in August 2019 on a site of dead coral rubble on the coast of Sulawesi, Indonesia. This living billboard is now discoverable on Google Maps & Google Earth, plus viewable underwater in Google Street View.

Every aspect of the campaign has been designed to inspire people to take action to restore coral reefs. This includes an innovative partnership with Youtube, with all ad revenue generated from its ‘Channel that Grows Coral’ donated to the Nature Conservancy for coral restoration.

The Hope Reef has inspired its own bespoke visual identity – an animated growing coral typeface for use in outdoor, social and online. Developed with the help of marine scientists, it’s an intricate contemporary headline typeface that comes in four different weights to indicate the different stages of coral growth, and has been developed with marine scientists.
