Trash Isles

Working with the Plastic Oceans Foundation, we set out to activate a millennial audience to demand change from governments and those in power to stop the flow of plastic pollution into our oceans. We created a petition to turn a nation-sized patch of trash floating in the Pacific Ocean into an official country.

Because that way other countries were legally obliged to help clean it up. Over 240,000 people signed our petition to become official citizens, and we reached over 250 billion people in total with our campaign – eventually forcing the UN themselves to take notice and comment on the Trash Isles.
